@abcnewslive: A newly-installed alert system in the Grand Canyon failed before Saturday’s deadly flood. The system was supposed to track rising water levels and notify authorities if they were too high. #grandcanyon #flashflood #rain #weather #news #abcnews
They spent 208 million on a steel waterline through that canyon. Helibase, substation, cabins at the bottom, 2,500 people on the rim. But a siren was too much infrastructure. Every tornado town figured this out 70 years ago. Horn goes off, everybody hears it. You don’t have to own a device or sign up for anything. Instead the only warning was a satellite text most hikers can’t receive. The sensors went off. The Park Service knew. Nobody could tell the people standing in the water. Two dead, one missing.

Maybe it’s because the money that’s supposed to be going to our national parks is going to build a ballroom and all the other administrations projects in the DC area

See, these are all Cos Trump's administration back in January. Cut budgets for security of flash, flooding and other things. Maybe even longer than that. It's been, but I remember this f****** article coming out and everybody was like, oh, it's not a big deal. And that's why this didn't work, because they f****** cut budgets on every national park. And on f****** security systems for like tornado warnings, flash flood warnings. We gotta start holding trump accountable for this s***

Could it possibly have something to do with the park superintendent who was appointed in 2020 despite having never worked for the NPS? This reeks of a failure of leadership, courtesy of Ed Keable and the administration that decided he was the man for the job.

Do you think the incompetent administration will put two and two together and actually except fault for switching their system over to AI and other advanced technologies when they are not proven to be tried and true like the old systems are???
