30 years down the line and my Mum is still really good friends with 4 of the Mums from my primary school. When did everyone get so anti social 😳 I am always looking for new friends!

I love our group chat. My mum went into hospital last week and 4 different mums looked after my two at different times so I could be with my mum, on the last snow day I had 8 other children at my house because it was my day off so they didn’t have to stress about no school. One of the mums lost her mum last month and she messaged to ask for help with school run and half a dozen of us took it in turn to pick her little girl up and have her over for tea. There are also 3 separate times I would have tried to take my children to school on an inset day if it hadn’t been for that WhatsApp group.

I second the group chat - join no chats at all. No groups, no chats, no PTA. I’m the mum who’s not on social media so I miss all the drama dross. As soon as your kids can, lob them on the bus with their mates, then you’re a ghost to school other than the few mum’s of the kids mates - that is it.

Group chats are really handy to be fair. Great for reminders, school collections, lost things, party invite chase ups, just finding numbers for certain parents you may need

mine are 21 and nearly 17, they love a chat when I am getting ready for bed the quite often will just flop on the bed. the youngest tucks me in every night 😍😂

I saw a video like this before my kids were school age and thought it was nonsense but I’m now 4 years into school runs and it’s all hauntingly accurate.

World book day in March - decide how you want to handle. Put a reminder of what “housecolour” they are suddenly asked to wear house colour tshirt. Have a stash of raffle prizes in the cupboard on hand, and same for cakes for when the plate gets sent home, oh and a stash of £1 coins for when those are suddenly needed … my youngest is in his final year of secondary, these are still things that traumatise me ….
