@goatcult.media: On May 1, 2011, 10-year-old Joseph Hall took a .357 Magnum revolver from his family’s Riverside, California home, walked downstairs and shot his father, 32-year-old Jeffrey Hall, while he slept on the living-room couch. Jeffrey was a regional leader of the neo-Nazi National Socialist Movement and regularly brought his son around the group’s activities. The case revealed a deeply troubled home life. Joseph told investigators that his father regularly hit him, and testimony during the case described Jeffrey as abusive when intoxicated. Joseph’s defense argued that the boy believed he was protecting his family, while prosecutors argued he understood killing his father was wrong and had planned the shooting. A judge ultimately found Joseph responsible for second-degree murder. In 2013, at age 13, Joseph was ordered into a state juvenile facility for a maximum of 10 years, with a parole hearing required after seven years.
