@heikoinvests: I asked, you answered, and here is my final call on the great debate of home loan versus investing. I’m doing both, but I’m hitting the bond hard while keeping my TFSA and RA going for the tax benefits I refuse to leave on the table. At today’s prime rate, paying down your home loan is one of the safest guaranteed returns you can get. But your R46 000 tax free allowance and your RA deduction are use it or lose it perks worth protecting. What would you prioritise? Let me know below. Not financial advice, just a CA sharing his own plan.
I decided to pay off the car then take my car instalment amount to apply 50% towards adding to the house and 50% towards a discretionary investment and building a small emergency fund - ps I can’t believe how much my car repayment was 😳😳😳😳 what a waste of money not sure why I did that

Most bond holders aren’t deeply familiar with finance - and there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s simply the reality for about 99% of homeowners. For their wellbeing, peace of mind, and ultimately their financial stability, the smartest move they can make is to focus on paying off their bond.
