@timeleps2: This Rock Hasn't Moved in 10,000 Years — So I Built My House Around It 🪨 This mossy giant has stood in the forest since the glaciers left — tons of granite, older than any road nearby, far too heavy to ever move. So I stopped trying to move it and built around it instead. A wide round wood floor went down first, then two rings of timber walls and a conical roof, all bending around the stone so it rises straight up through the middle of the house — up past the living-kitchen, past a staircase that curves around its flank, into the bedroom tucked under the eaves. Then, because a rock this old has to be hiding something, I cut an arched door into its base, hollowed out its belly with a breaker, and turned the inside of the stone into a warm little den — a wood floor, shelves, an armchair and a wood stove, all wrapped in solid granite.
