@ararity__: it still scares the hell out of me to go out in public in a dress 😬 The constant looks (good and bad), the feeling of being different/seen as a freak, people assuming my sexuality or gender, my own constant thoughts of whether I look good or just weird, the threat of harassment and violence... are all things I have to push past if I want to be able to feel like myself. Somedays that trade off is worth it, and other days when I'm less resilient it isn't. One thing that keeps me going though is remembering that the more I do this the more normal it gets for society. I wish I'd grown up in a world where boys dressing femme wasn't weird or unusual, and if I can help create that world for people who feel the same way I used to, normalising it gradually one outing at a time, then that makes pushing through the discomfort all worth it 💖
