Canada didn’t even name Lake Ontario. The indigenous natives of the land called it Lake Ontario, that is why Ontario the land is called Ontario.

It serves as a critical economic artery for the United States-particularly for the industrial and agricultural hubs of the U.S. Midwest. An estimated $26.3 billion of American trade depends directly on the Welland Canal. The 27-mile long Welland Canal sits completely within Ontario, Canada and is completely under Canadian jurisdiction. It would be a real blow to the US economy if the transit if those vessels was disrupted.

Never mind getting them to even appreciate that the lake was named 400 years ago before Canada or the US were even a thing!
