It's ironic because 90% of people will read that title and think I'm being totally dramatic, but I'm sorry to disappoint you, I am not. Because I did, in fact, go from having 0 financial awareness at 21 years old to now having £135K at 26 years old. From when I was 17–21 years old, I saved my first £4,000, which I was SO proud of, but it was just sitting in a Cash ISA getting around a 3% return. At 21 years old, I began researching more about how to really “make your money work harder for you” and after watching a few YouTube videos on the topic, I ordered a book about investing. (With no real intent on getting started because honestly, I found the word scary and intimidating and didn’t think I would be clever enough to understand it) Little did I know that on 16th February 2021, when I came across a page all about compound interest and how saving £250 a month from the age of 30 could potentially end up with nearly £8M by the time I turned 60 years old, it’s safe to say, I got obsessed. It lit this fire inside me at 21 years old where I went ALL IN on saving my money and investing everything I could whilst I lived at home in my childhood bedroom. I quite literally got totally addicted to saving my money. (Definitely worse habits to have in your early 20s) 2 weeks later, on 1st March 2021, I opened up my very first Stocks & Shares ISA and honestly, the rest is history. So, you have two options. You can either keep swiping and go about your day, or you can do what I did on 1st March 2021 and take the scary leap into the world of investing because it’s safe to say it’s the best financial decision I’ve ever made. Quite simply, my future is looking pretty damn bright right about now. *When investing, your capital is at risk. Past performance is no guarantee of future results. This information is not investment advice. Do your own research.*
