If you were exposed DO NOT WAIT to get the vaccine. There is a finite window to recieve the rabies vaccine. It is not worth risking by waiting too long.

i understand the baby goats couldn't be vaccinated yet but if they were exposed to a rabid skunk or any wildlife for that matter, they should've been quarantined from the public for a reasonable amount of time. the owners should be charged, I saw videos from some of the events and a bunch of children were exposed to the baby goats😔 the petting zoo was greedy and didnt want to miss out on the money, there's no excuse for this

Yeah, we as veterinary professionals are extremely pissed at this. The owners KNEW those goats were bitten by a rabid skunk and let those goats continue to be pet by CHILDREN. Also- the vet techs like myself are the ones who have to cut the heads off of these animals for testing and I’m sick of doing it. I’m so fucking mad every single time I have to CUT THE HEAD OFF OF AN ANIMAL.

The baby goats were too young to receive the rabies vaccination. The older goats were vaccinated. Just from what I have heard.

it can take up to 2 months for symptoms to appear. once they do its almost always a death sentence. however its best to get the vaccines ASAP after exposure
