Pierre Damas Bel, a 20-year-old Haitian immigrant in Springfield, Ohio. · Lost TPS Status & Monitor: He lost Temporary Protected Status after the Supreme Court ruling, and DHS made him wear a GPS ankle monitor. · His Words: In July, he posted: "I came to this country to pursue my education... Yet now I’m walking through the streets... with a GPS monitor on my leg, carrying a feeling of shame and humiliation...". · The Day It Happened: He called his father that morning, distressed about the monitor and deportation fears. Shortly after, he got out of his car on I-70 and walked into a tractor-trailer. · His Background: A recent honors grad & varsity soccer player, he was in JROTC and planned to study neuroscience at Wright State to join the military. His father said he felt "treated like an animal". Advocates condemned the "dehumanizing" policy, and Ohio's governor called the enforcement "misguided". It's an incredibly tragic story.
