I thought working in a book shop would be my dream job when I was at Uni. Then people ruined it. One bloke came in asking for books about dinosaurs, showed him where they were and left him to it. He came back asking did we have any with "real" pictures, along the same lines as David Attenborough's Planet Earth. I asked him if he wanted books with photographs of actual dinosaurs and he confirmed he did. I lost the will to live. Another woman bought back an Agatha Christie book because the ending was "wrong" she'd seen it on TV and it was a different killer. She would not accept that Agatha Christie's version was "right" on the grounds she wrote it. My boss refunded her and another piece of my soul died. I got a job in Pizza Hut which I hated less 🤣

On a family day out in London my dad went into a book shop and asked if they had the book “who’s who in the archers”? It was only when the shop assistant asked if it was related to travel did we realise we were in a travel book shop. This was 20+ years ago and still gets asked every book shop we go in

They used to do books without spaces before Irish monks decided they’d be easier to read if they put spaces between the words. Clearly they had money to burn.
