I don’t get how people don’t understand that Caitlyn staying in Piltover to fight Ambessa was one of the starting steps of her redemption journey. She could have literally left. 😂 but no - they gotta come up with excuses (as usual) as to ‘why that doesn't count’. There is no winning. They will ignore 80% of the story anyway.

How tf can anoytone claim she didn't do antyhing. She literally lost an eye fighting for Piltower and Zaun.

Vi truly forgives anyone the second they give her the smallest reason to, I mean Vi literally forgave Huck for almost getting her killed and basically all he said was “damn my bad” 😭

at this point, I genuinely don't care if caitlyn was "forgiven" or not. in my eyes (aka THE AUDIENCE), I think she owned up to her mistakes relative to what the show brings up. I dont care whether a fictional character does or does not agree. People act like this is some moral high ground of "what she did" and "how she will be held accountable" but forget that she's fictional and in an animated TV show

The show ends on the start of Cait’s redemption journey, not the end of it. Like the universe exists still

I don’t understand why people feel the need to hold fictional characters accountable. Imo Caitlyn has already been held accountable in the show. Her losing her mom, losing an eye, hurting Vi’s trust, etc etc. are her punishments. Even if it’s not how you wanted her to be punished. Just because it didn’t end the way you wanted it to or the way you would’ve left it off doesn’t mean it’s bad writing, it means you simply don’t like the ending. Also why does Caitlyn have to explicitly apologize for everything she’s done? When she quite literally admitted to being in the wrong (her convo with jinx) and then proceeds to do other things that show she’s sorry. Actions speak louder than words people. Even then if she did explicitly apologize I have a feeling people still would be mad.

Aside from Mel, Caitlyn and Vi do you think other characters from Arcane will appear in the Noxus sequal. perhaps to give this perspective on Caitlyn you discuss

Also why do ppl act like she’s the only character that has to verbally apologize and redeem herself?, Never is this a standard used for other characters that were a 100 times worse that also didn’t redeem themselves 😭

I think it would be hard for the people of Piltover to blame Caitlyn since THEY are the ones who decided to declare martial law, not her, as well as to make Ambessa the general, and THEN to make Caitlyn the commander, at which point she... did exactly the things they wanted her to do because they thought it would keep them safe? The people of Zaun however I cannot imagine are very happy with her... (Though I do think of all people Ekko is the most likely to forgive her eventually, considering he forgave Jinx and Heimerdinger of all people)

Also "did not do a single thing to earn forgiveness" is just straight up wrong. She literally gives the Kiramman seat on the council to Sevika (and Zaun by proxy) which also essentially removed her family from political power. The only way to miss that is if they didn't watch the finale to its end.

these are the same people who think that all the sociopolitical issues just disappeared at the end of s2 cause sevika is on the council now and zaun saved piltover from the end of the world 😭 but also somehow it’s not all solved bc “it’s one zaunite vs 6 pilities what is she even gonna do”

arcane canonically takes place before league of legends and based on the voice lines in league it does seem like caitlyn redeemed herself. she says things like, “i’m not piltovers dog, i work for its people” and attempts to find common ground with ekko in certain lines. she also has lines about how laws are useless if they don’t protect people. she’s much more of a justice seeking detective type of character rather than a stereotypical power hungry cop.

Nobody apologises in arcane. Jinx doesn’t. Caitlyn doesn’t. Vi doesn’t. Everyone more so does this with actions.

i had this similar argument about vi and how she never grieved losing jinx in act one of season one and that caitlyn’s grief towards her mother was used to excuse what she did in season two. i had to explain that there was a time jump in season one and we never saw how vi reacted because she was in prison

People don’t actually want these characters to be “redeemed”. They don’t intend to treat them different had they been. They want people they don’t like to face consequences because of their personal feelings. To an extreme degree. The amount of people I’ve seen say she should’ve died is absurd.

I personally really don’t like season 2 because the pacing was way too fast and basically ruined jinx as a character, would’ve been fine I think if they gave her more time to develop and not instantly just offing isha for fun

Also for as much as I do not like Vi in season 2, I hate when people say “Ekko would hate her.” No, he wouldn’t. Season 1 him yeah, but he would forgive her as his current self. While I personally think his writing is awful in S2 as well, there is no universe where he forgives Jinx, who actually murdered his found family, and not Vi
