@cbsnews: The judge in Lindsay Clancy's murder trial has instructed the jury to keep deliberating after they said they were deadlocked and couldn’t come to a unanimous decision. What happens if they can't come to a verdict? CBS News' Shanelle Kaul explains. #news #trial #court #massachusetts #lindsayclancy
This case demands a higher level of emotional intelligence, nuance, and tolerance for ambiguity than some people are intellectually capable of.
To understand the defense, you have to be able to hold two truths at the same time: the children suffered an unimaginably horrific death, and Lindsay may also have been profoundly mentally ill rather than acting from ordinary malice.
For some people, the horror of what happened makes that second truth emotionally intolerable. They interpret empathy for Lindsay as somehow taking empathy away from the children, when those things are not mutually exclusive.
So I’m not surprised people are diametrically opposed on this case. A lot of it comes down to your capacity for empathy, complexity, and nuance.

I really hope the are not jurors that bully others into changing their vote if it’s truly not what they feel is right.

How will they find an impartial jury for the next one? How long usually before she would go to trial again? What would happen if they do another trial and it deadlocked again?

if i'm not wrong in the 2000's a mother k!lled her kids and got not guilty buy reason of lack of responsibility her name was Andrea Yates. I'm not saying she's innocent but if she was allowed to get charge with that why can't she .

She deserves to get help and be free. Her husband deserves to be behind bars for negligence. He purposely left them in the house with a mentally unwell person.

I don’t see how they could get a fresh set of jurors in a new trial after the amount of coverage this had.
