@develobaby: Flat head syndrome (brachycephaly) is a concern for many parents. In Denmark, helmet treatment is not considered best practice. As a pediatric physical therapist specializing in flat head syndrome for 17 years, I’ve encountered only two cases where a helmet was prescribed by a pediatrician. Instead, the official best practice approach here is to educate parents on treating flat head through proper positioning and exercises. The 5 key steps in treating brachycephaly are: 1. Teaching the baby to sleep with their head facing both sides, rather than keeping it in the middle. 2. Exercises for the rotational muscles to help the baby independently turn their head and body. 3. Positioning the baby to avoid pressure on the head during sleep. 4. Exercises and tips to encourage the baby to enjoy tummy time, reducing pressure on the head during waking hours. 5. Positioning the baby for back play without putting pressure on the back of their head. 🚫Early intervention is essential before the fontanelles (soft spots) close. You can learn all these techniques in my exercise program, “Develobaby - Back Arching and Flat Head.” Comment ARCH for the link or go to bio! 🌸 (Note: If your baby has plagiocephaly (flat head to one side), instead choose the program “Develobaby - Preferred Side”. With love, Maria ♥️ (Your pediatric PT from Denmark 🇩🇰)
