I wish the hijab was optional for everyone. I had a friend who was forced to wear her hijab since she was 7. She’d take it off during school then put it on afterschool. She it was picture day she didn’t have enough time to go back to her locker and her picture was taken without it. She was sobbing uncontrollably and that was the last day I ever saw her. I hope she’s okay

It pisses me off when people are like “it’s a choice!”. It was never a choice. It’s like when teachers go “yes, you can not do your homework, but you’ll fail!”. The pressure and shame that surrounds wearing hijab disgusts me.

Any religion that puts women on a lesser level than men should not exist. It’s awful for girls to feel shame about their own body. A normal body function can never be unclean, and puberty shouldn’t be shameful. I hope you’re living life to its fullest now and not held back by religious practices

When my Christian school gave us “sex ed” and it was just an abstinence class so I asked what a woman who gets graped should do. They said she’d have to apologize to her future husband for letting someone else take that experience from him

Parents who force their kids to commit to life changing decisions are literal villains. The kids can decide for themselves. I’ve seen so many girls take off the hijab behind their parents backs and it’s the parents’ fault.

I got my periods, was locked up in a room. They said “you are not allowed to see any men and vice versa.” The food, they put it on the floor and I grab it because interacting with me wasn’t allowed, I was impure. They told me I was only allowed to use the old toilet with no shower. While shower, They put water above me because me touching the water to take shower makes water impure. Wasn’t allowed to go outside, my mom the kindest person slept towards the other wall in a mattress.
