But you should understand: → IP addresses → TCP vs UDP → DNS → DHCP → Ports & protocols → Subnets → Firewalls → Routing → VPNs → HTTP/HTTPS Why? Because cybersecurity happens on networks. When an attacker scans your environment, you need to understand what they’re scanning. When you see suspicious traffic, you need to understand what normal traffic looks like. When a firewall blocks something, you need to understand why. When you’re investigating an incident, you need to be able to follow the traffic. You can memorize every cybersecurity tool out there… But if you don’t understand what’s happening underneath the tools, you’re going to struggle.
