Art teacher who had to quit last school year because the constant disrespect for art and the obvious signs that my job is as seen as a useless waste of funding. It is more important. Literally the top of the Bloom’s Taxonomy…but it can’t be tested easily. Which makes it hard for the system to work with or profit from.

Voters in my area want the schools to receive less money. Many of them see dollar signs instead of joy, creativity, expression. They complain about buying crayons. Our elementary art teachers get $0 budget for a class that uses consumables. My husband is a music professor whose state university is hacking away at the arts because they’re not as profitable. It’s all about money.
