@anyaturner98: 5 things I’ll never stop doing since knee surgery I’m 5 years post knee surgery, which happened when I was a heptathlete, and these are things I still keep in my training. Not because my knee is ‘broken’, but because I want to keep it strong, mobile and resilient so I can keep doing the things I love like trail running, hiking, skiing etc 1. TKE variations Great for building strength through knee extension and getting the quads working esp the VMO (key stabiliser) 2. Isometrics A great way to build strength and increase the capacity of the muscles and tendons around the knee to tolerate load 3. Hip strength & mobility Your knee doesn’t work in isolation. Strong, mobile hips help you control movement and distribute load throughout the lower limb. 4. Ankle & foot strength & mobility Your foot and ankle are the foundation underneath the knee. Better strength and mobility here can help you control how forces travel up the leg. 5. Knees over toes I’m not afraid of letting my knees travel forward. Gradually training this range builds strength and tolerance where I actually need it especially for things like stairs, running, hiking and getting up/down. Even if you haven’t had knee surgery these will help your knees 👀 #runner #kneestrength #mobility #kneesurgery #kneepainrelief

Thank you, are these exercises similar if the injury was on the ankle? Currently on day 6 of recovery and I’m learning as much so I can properly heal

I’m about to have to get meniscus surgery (most likely)…. Any recommendations on when I can get back to moving? A 6-9 month time period for just recovering sounds like my nightmare 🥲
