@c5news: New government data on small boat crossings shows arrivals have dropped to their lowest point since 2019. Between June and August this year, 102 small boats crossed the English Channel. This marks the lowest summer total since 2019, when 57 boats were recorded. The statistics come just weeks after a record-breaking single journey grabbed headlines – 230 people on a single, super, dingy, in what authorities feared was an attempt by smuggling gangs to further circumvent authorities. A total of 7,371 people crossed the Channel over the summer months, representing the lowest overall summer total since 2020, when 3,307 arrived.
