I was looking for accommodation around DCU, but it was about €1,500 a week, and even at that price, it was really hard to find anywhere. It’s honestly gone beyond a joke. The cost and lack of accommodation are really taking the motivation out of students trying to complete their education. It’s a serious struggle.

In a " digs " situation the owner and / his partner provide accommodation and food ie : breakfast and usually evening meal 5 days a week to 1st year students usually. such an arrangement has been going on forever and a day . " Digs " is not like renting a flat or a room in a shared house . " Digs " is a home away from home and I used such a place many many years ago and I was very grateful to have it being from the country. "Digs " should not be regulated .
