Laguna has some tides where you are standing and the water disappears, just enough water to make it tough to run, then a big wave tries to land on your head with no water left to go under. If you are not paying attention you get slammed.

The best part about Laganas beaches for people that aren’t familiar is that when the surf is big and high, it hides the stand-alone outcroppings of boulders and craggy rocks. You won’t know they’re there until low tide/smaller swell or until the waves slam you into them
