Hot take but if you don’t like your child’s spouse, then you must not like your child. You should be able to trust your adult child’s judgment. Your child loves this person enough to marry them!

I asked my mil for space and she tells my husband “it’s not fair and isn’t right” and then says says “I don’t understand why he doesn’t bring the baby over without Claire. I don’t care if she doesn’t want to see me but I need to see my grandson” it doesn’t feel respectful of my marriage.

I’m due in the next few weeks and from the beginning we made it clear to everyone that we won’t be sharing the name until birth. My MIL asked 3 times at the beginning and got the same answer all three times. In the last week alone, she’s asked my husband TWICE and he tells her the same thing that I told her. She told him the other day not to tell me that she’s asking him about the name. WTH?! SHES TELLING MY HUSBAND TO KEEP SOMETHING FROM ME?! I’m annoyed but not sure if I’m over reacting.

In the last convo my husband had with his dad my FiL said “I know something about your wife that would destroy your marriage. But I won’t tell you because I think you love her”. That was ten years ago and we both are sooo curious what dirt he has on me 😂

My MIL has never liked me. Back when my husband traveled for work, we used to ask his parents for extra help with the kids. My MIL would ask him if I just couldn’t handle the kids w/out him, yet will help his sister with hers no questions asked. Safe to say we stopped asking her to help..

Unless the child’s partner or spouse is cruel/abusive/awful, I do not understand when parents decided to be openly cold, mean or outright hostile. Do they really think that strategy is going to create a good outcome? Basic decency vs. petty jealousy.

My in laws have been so disrespectful to us for the last 20 years and things finally came to a head last September. My husband has repeatedly told them he will choose me and doesn’t want to speak to them until they can take accountability and be respectful and all they keep saying is we have to do what they say and respect and honor them.
