@johannaruediger: This Sunday, the far-right AfD could come into power in Saxony-Anhalt. Has Germany changed for you as an immigrant? Would you still move here for work? Or are you thinking of leaving? I want to know 🩷🙏 #immigration #afd #sachsenanhalt

Im American living here in Germany. Its a lovely country and I love being here, but they make it way too difficult for foreigners to live i.e. getting a job/apartment etc and im an engineer. Im moving back to the US this month after being here for a year.

Was in Germany for 5 years.. got a second masters, and was not able to find a job.. left 8 months ago.. they claim to seek skilled workers, but when you come legally, and actually want to work - you are treated as second class citizen..

We have been living here for almost 10 years, well integrated, we have our own company, son in school... but I feel unwanted - and as someone wrote - sad 😐

my biggest fear is that racism and hate towards foreign people increase if Germans normalize AFD 🥲

I and my husband (both skilled immigrants) left Germany half a year ago… Some interesting facts about our lives in Germany, we spent around 3.5 years there… We both worked in tech, we both got laid off several times.. We tried to launch our own digital product but understood that it would take us so much of bureaucracy, money and time, we just dropped that idea… My husband lost his private insurance because he went to a psychotherapist to ask if he needed pills from anxiety.. We got ‘inappropriately saluted’ (you know what I mean) by 2 young guys in a supermarket… So we moved, it was very traumatic experience for us in Germany, but it’s just our case, everyone is different :)

I gave up my whole life in the U.S. to move here…. It’s a lot better than the U.S but I want out so bad! I’m now ‘stuck between a rock and a hard place’ because I can’t go back but I also know my soul can’t bare to stay here longterm…I’m quite lost.

Its really scary and incomprehensible. I feel also confused because its like you deal with people everyday that are nice and accepting and then you go and find out that most of them are voting literally against your well being.

I’m a Chinese engineer and my husband is a German from saxony-Anhalt, we live in Japan now. Since the Japanese government is against and bullying foreigners so we decided to leave. Last year we talk about move to Germany, but this year we talk about moving back to China… I don’t wanna live in the country where I always being targeted as a foreigner… usually against foreigners is a sign shows this country is getting poor and has very bad future….

I’ve invested too much time, effort, and money on my way to come here, can’t change course now, but already hearing about less job opportunities — for doctors !

At worst AFD wins in 2029 federal elections , still enough time to get PR / citizenship

I can’t vote but here are my two cents: the government performs poorly → people lose confidence in established parties → opposition promising a dramatic change becomes more attractive. Many might support AfD as a vehicle for dissatisfaction without actually supporting many AfD policies..

I want to stay but I left USA because of this same rhetoric. Don’t they see the damage in USA?
