It has now become difficult for taxi drivers to meet house rent, utility bills, and car expenses. Taxi companies deduct 50% and many times more. For this, drivers have to work longer hours. The government and parliamentarians should take notice of this.

When fuel was like £2 a litre a few years ago, taxi drivers increased their prices because of it, when the price went back down to £1.30 or so, they never put prices back down. Greed, same as supermarkets and the lot of them.

As a taxi driver we have to work long hours in order to make a good living like there’s soo much costs involved but we also know when to call it a day when we know we’re tired so I can’t believe a guy like him thought it was reasonable to carry on and he’s paying the price

The answer is to go back to a 25% commission cap, thats the answer to this!!! Nowadays drivers have to work an extra 2-4 hours every day to make a decent living

They should bring in tachographs for PHV and taxis, with exactly the same rules and restrictions as PCV and LGV drivers have. Maximum of 4.5h driving in one go but a compulsory 45min break. Maximum of 9h a day (extended to 10h twice a week) and 56h a week and 90h over 2 consecutive weeks.

The driver and operator is responsible for monitoring hours worked. If he has worked multiple apps then it’s the drivers responsibility.
