If Andy Burnham brought Jeremy Corbyn back into the Labour Party, and made him Housing Minister, this would go a long way in the healing of the left. Corbyn as leader took the Labour Party to its highest ever membership. He was elected leader by a greater margin than Tony Blair. There is still a lot of affection for Jeremy.

The local housing allowance usually covers it all if it's council or housing associations but often fails to pay it when it's a private rent, that is the problem. Most private landlords have a mortgage and the lenders want them to charge the tenant 25% over what the mortgage repayment is so that causes high rents. The solution is to stop buy to let mortgages and you can only rent if you own the property outright.

Rent controls don’t work, it’s scary how many politicians and voters don’t understand basic economics. You have to create favourable market conditions. You can’t just force the market unnaturally using legislation.
