homeless people can't access a lot of important things (medicine, safe sleep) that contributes to them being unstable and acting sporadically and having trouble with mental and behavioral health. that is a problem!! they deserve solutions!! but it is not MY problem and I CAN NOT provide a solution at 9 o'clock on a Tuesday they don't need a conversation they need Healthcare

Homeless man attacked me in the library in CA and the librarians had no sympathy for me at all, wouldn’t even give me a tissue for blood/work with the cops, explicitly saying “he has a harder life than you” and implying I was to blame for being in the library at all…. I was doing school work and he was there to assault women.

We need to stop infantilizing these people. Just like housed people, they can be bad. A homeless man chased me and my one year old saying he was going to EAT HER. I was home alone and so afraid I called my brothers to stay the night.

and you are 100% right. if a strange man was on my property throwing trash out of my garbage can i would be very scared. regardless of if he was homeless or a billionaire, i would be afraid. teaching women to not be afraid of a strange man is so dangerous.

making eye contact with homeless men, as someone who used to take the max regularly, has only gotten me followed and threatened with INSANE scary things. people never step in to help either. stopped taking the max bc of how bad it was. so yeah i don’t even look at homeless men now!!

"If you give them an inch, they'll take a mile" is unfortunately true with a lot of homeless people, whether that be because of a lack of funds or an unstable mental state. Never feel guilty for being cautious. (From someone who worked in the ER directly with the homeless and received many death threats)

its misogny. and sadly, a lot of people on the left are pro-patriarchy and downplay gendered violence. they make women seem hysterical for being cautious. then those same people will tell victims to empathize and forgive their attacker.
