If they followed the law, without emotion, this is clearly not guilty. The prosecution did not meet their burden of proof.

I served on a 🍇trial and had to turn 11 other people around because, despite a mountain of evidence, they didn't want to convict a man without video proof of the attack. People are dumb. Afterward, the judge came into the jury room to tell us he had three prior charges and had gotten off every time.

When and if, those instructions are read, I really hope Judge Sullivan puts a strong emphasis on the phrasing “BEYOND A REASONABLE DOUBT!” then stares at the jury like this:

surely if the jury cant decide then that should mean by default that the prosecution haven't proved their case beyond a reasonable doubt.

I saw a TikTok yesterday of a lady who had been on jury service for a criminal trial. She said the jury couldn’t agree and it was between her and two men, two of them thought not guilty and one thought guilty. They kept getting sent back by the judge and in the end they COMPROMISED on a manslaughter charge because no one could agree. I just think it’s horrific how you can just compromise on someone’s future like that. It’s terrifying to think that they could decide the wrong fate for Lindsay 😔

i feel like the jury should at LEAST have their bachelors degree in some sort of CJ/forensics/paych major. i just can’t wrap my head around how 12 strangers that have zero clue on what half of these words even mean have someones life in their hands. it’s sad.

There is nothing complicated about it. There is not enough hard evidence to prove that she killed them. So, she's not guilty.

I think bifurcating the trial seems like it would have been a good idea in hindsight. It would have been much easier for them to make a decision first on reasonable doubt/guilt alone and THEN on criminal responsibility. The arguments from both sides would have been so much less complicated too.

Just based off online arguments on this I knew it would be nearly impossible to get a group of people to unanimously agree on a case like this. I get that, but the other part of me cannot fathom how a room of people who watched this in person do not see the massive reasonable doubt and that alone should be enough and your answer. Wild

It ‘felt’ like when the judge sent them back to try again - he’s asking some people on that jury to change their minds to get to a unanimous vote, but it feels wrong for some reason. Like “go to your room and don’t come out until you all agree”, when they already told him their answer. They don’t all agree. Period. Why isn’t that the end?
