As a retired dancer who took class once a week for 18 yrs it blows my mind how many classes these studios are having them take. My daughter isn’t going to be a professional. She doesn’t need 3+ hours a week in the studio. The studios don’t offer a laid back option to learn tap, jazz & ballet anymore. Instead you have to sign up for each class which can be on different days. It’s gotten out of hand imo.

As a teacher, it’s also the example the older students are setting that set a precedent for those younger ones.

It's unfortunate that majority of this is out on the teacher. It takes a village! Parents, studio owners, other teachers, and students all have to be on the same page. And that's not always the case

Or the studios actually don’t have proper training and these kids are tired of coming to the same classes that are not being taught well or even by a teacher , maybe taught by a older student that also doesn’t have good technique.
