You have done more for me with this series than you will ever know. I’ve integrated these concepts into our couples counseling and my weekly EMDR trauma therapy. I am 47 and finally feeling emotionally safe in my own environment. I’m done over functioning and questing for acceptance. I’m still showing up and loving but doing it a way that doesn’t self abandon.

Whew! Unconditional self safety is vital. The way in which you share your experiences and learning is truly so meaningful. This is the wisdom to start inner revolution! 💜

I feel like you just handed me a puzzle piece I've been missing for years. I dont think Ive ever felt emotionally safe externally or really internally. Years of undiagnosed neurodivergence takes a huge toll on one's ability to trust themselves too

I would love to know more about providing safety to yourself. can you explain exactly what that looks like and how you got there? it feels like this really vague abstract concept that I desperately need but feel pretty clueless on how to actually end up there. thank you so much for posting this, your vulnerability is a gift to others out there struggling to break away from the programming like me.

This was me too. Meeting my parents needs and self abandonment in the face of abuse & neglect caused me to repeat the cycle with my husband. Ex- husband. Now I give myself safety.

Your videos keep hitting home. I thought you were looking into my life with your video about how you used to brace yourself for your husband's discomfort in certain situations but this video right here just unpacked something I didn't realize was a part of the problem. I've already started to decenter him and center myself, now I just need to know how to make myself feel safe.

💡and there it is. Thank you for taking a risk and being vulnerable. This got me. This is me. I thought the same thing and was confused when my efforts weren’t returned. I am now at the beginning stages of working to love myself put myself first without guilt (That’s a tough thing to do). I hope I will find safety. I almost feel frantic and definitely insecure from feeling unstable from not receiving for so long. This is one of the hardest journeys. So grateful for you and your story.

I'm going through this right now at the age of 54. I was emotionally neglected as a child, and have had therapy to address it. What I realise is that he never really appreciated how much work I was putting into the relationship. And I hadn't realised just how resentful I felt. He's actually much nicer to me now that I center myself. And our relationship is improving. But I feel safe whatever the outcome. I too wish this for all women.

I was a child when I learned to neglect my needs and cut pieces off myself in order to be accepted. I learned to apologise for every hurt anybody else felt, regardless of if it was my fault, and to accept cruelty with no expectation of comfort.
I'm still unlearning, but I no longer accept that somebody else should be the centre of my world.

our patriarchal society makes women feel unsafe financially and emotionally. It makes women feel they need men to survive and be taken care of, even if that's not true.

I feel this so deeply. I’ve never felt emotional safety. I’m starting to now. But my entire life I have not.
