@vocaldecoding: You’re a better singer than you think you are, and I can prove it. Take your most difficult song. It could be a passage, the bridge, the chorus—it doesn’t matter. Just take the part that’s difficult for you. Remove the words and vocalize it on the word “new.” It’s going to pull you a little bit toward your head voice. That’s okay. Let your voice show you what it wants to do. Do not direct your voice. Let your voice show you what it wants to do. When that starts working, no judgment. Don’t judge it. It’s not supposed to be really strong and powerful yet. That’s not what this is about. Once you have a vocal line developed and you’re going through the song, change it to “neau”. That is the vowel sound in the words wood, put, or good, with an N in front of it. Do it like that, and it’ll pick up a little more weight in the voice. It will simulate singing more while maintaining the vocal line you built on “new.” Once you have that solid, add the lyrics. Identify any words and vowels that fall out of alignment and become more difficult than the vocalizing. That’s your challenge. Work those out. Download my free Vowel Mastery Guide.
