How to Write AI-Optimized Blog Posts That Rank on Google and AI Search Can I tell you something that most business owners completely overlook? They spend hours creating content... Then they never look at it again. Meanwhile, some of their best-performing content is sitting quietly on their website doing all the heavy lifting. And now that AI search is becoming mainstream, that's becoming an even bigger missed opportunity. For years we've talked about SEO. Search Engine Optimisation. Getting found on Google. Ranking higher in search results. But now we have AEO. Answer Engine Optimisation. And GEO. Generative Engine Optimisation. Which means we're no longer just optimising for Google. We're optimising for AI too. Because people aren't just Googling anymore. They're asking ChatGPT. They're asking Gemini. They're asking Claude. And AI is searching the internet looking for the best answers. The question is... Will it find yours? One of the easiest ways to improve your discoverability is by making sure your content is structured properly. And honestly? It's much simpler than most people think. A lot of it comes down to formatting. Using proper headings. Using proper subheadings. Using clear sections. Using list-style content. For example: Instead of writing one giant wall of text... Break your content into: Step 1 Step 2 Step 3 Or: 5 Ways To... 7 Strategies For... 10 Mistakes To Avoid... Why? Because search engines and AI systems love structure. It helps them understand exactly what your content is about. And it makes it easier for them to summarise and reference your content when answering questions. This is where metadata becomes incredibly important too. Things like: Your blog title Meta description Keywords Tags Image descriptions Page summaries All of these help search engines and AI systems understand your content. And here's the good news. You don't have to do it manually anymore. AI can help. One of my favourite things to do is create a custom AI assistant that learns how I write. Then I ask it to: ✔️ Reformat my content for SEO ✔️ Improve discoverability ✔️ Create metadata ✔️ Generate keywords ✔️ Write descriptions ✔️ Structure content correctly The result? The content still sounds like me. But it's much easier for Google and AI to understand. Now here's the question I was asked recently:

The content still sounds like me. But it's much easier for Google and AI to understand. Now here's the question I was asked recently: "Should I go back and update old blog posts?" My answer is absolutely yes. Particularly the ones already performing well. Look at your analytics. Find your most visited articles. Then either: Update them Improve the formatting Add better metadata Or create a newer, more up-to-date version Because every piece of content is another opportunity to be discovered. And now that AI is becoming one of the biggest traffic sources on the internet... That opportunity is only getting bigger. The businesses that create useful, educational, searchable content today are building digital assets that can continue bringing in leads for years. That's why I still believe some of the most powerful marketing you can do is answering questions. Teach what you know. Document what you do. Create content that helps people. And make it easy for both humans and AI to find. Future you will be very grateful you started.
