@shelbyperry77: This moment might look small, but to me it’s HUGE. 🥹🦜❤️ Zazu is a 20-year-old macaw who spent years living in a cage with very little enrichment and interaction. He became fearful, started plucking his feathers, and basically shut down. Now we’re rebuilding his confidence one tiny interaction at a time. Today, he FINALLY came off his cage and onto my desk just to hang out with me. 🥹 Then came the beak test… 😂🦜 He gave my arm a little bite, stepped back, and watched me closely to see what I would do. When I didn’t react, he tried again a little harder. Instead of getting upset or pulling away dramatically, I redirected him to something appropriate to chew and turned it into an enrichment activity by hiding a treat inside a toilet paper roll. This is what learning to communicate with a parrot looks like. ❤️ I’m not expecting overnight changes. I’m looking for these tiny moments where Zazu chooses to come closer, interact, explore, and trust me.
