as a Welsh person affected by this, the stupid thing is the number of patients is 800 in 2 years with the same rate of surgery regret which is less than 1%. it's also important to know that it comes from the right and gender criticals which say WGS refers people at 2-3x the rate at England bearing in mind Wales has a 2-4x shorter waiting list so they're basically being punished for their doing their job and treating patients.

The UK healthcare system is a straight up joke. This is the tip of the iceberg bc they just don't gaf. I was referred to a gender clinic 7 years ago and still have not heard anything. I'm now 20.

i got referred 8 years ago. surgery got delayed twice due to unexpected circumstances. now the whole fucking service has been paused with not even an estimate as to how long the inquiry will take. this will have a kill count

I’ve been telling friends to come to wales because the gender health service actually works. And now they’ve just stopped it. My girlfriend has been on the list in england for yeeeaaarrrs and i don’t think they will get to her for another few long years. And that’s just for her initial appointment. She’s currently in such a deep depression I’ve never seen her in before and we’ve known eachother since school and she’s been through a lot. I want to help her but I just can’t and the systems that were supposed to help her are so broken. You can’t even fall back on the mental health system because it’s overwhelmed and underfunded and just poorly run also. I don’t know what to do I just know I’m watching everyone I love suffer.

What makes this scarier is the fact they got cancelled because a conservative blogger wrote a piece on a news site and that single-handedly caused this. A blogger caused a whole country’s healthcare for adults to stop.

I'm going broke paying for my own private gender affirming care because I literally couldn't cope with the idea of spending another SEVEN YEARS waiting for an initial appointment because they kicked me off the waitlist for being "too young" (i was within the age range to be referred as an adult even according to their fucking email). The NHS is a fucking joke when it comes to treating trans people and I'm so sick of it. They gave that hotline out because they knew exactly how fatal this would be to so many trans people.
