Marxism in its ultimate belief of freeing the proletariat, or worker as you will, may argue the "free individual" is historically abstracted. And this comes from the belief known as dialectical materialism. Which is a highly debated and hard to establish term, but for the sake of keeping this video below 3 minutes we'll just call it a historical analysis based on material outcome. The Marxist critique would state this treats the individual as though they exist prior to and independently of their social relations. But individuals are socially situated in the social contract. They have they're class position property relations labor relations access to resources institutions historical circumstances. The social contract begins with an abstract individual and then attempts to construct society from that abstraction; thereby, denying the right to individualist outlook, or human nature, whereas historical materialism begins with actual social relations and asks how those relations developed. The Marxist critique is substantially different. Rather than primarily saying "The individual never consented."
