Valvoline recommended an oil flush for my wife’s car. Will it damage it?

Dawn dish soap, because... why not! It gets oil off the little duckies.

My car leaks enough oil that I just keep refilling it with new oil… lol I can’t imagine the gunk at the bottom but it’s got 300k miles and the thing won’t die

my grandpa was an old school mechanic and also a drinker. my grandma was a heavy heavy coffee drinker. she would fill the filter to the absolute brim with coffee grounds and run her coffee that way. destroyed quite a few coffee makers. well one day grandpa was hung over and working on a motor that was obliterated with grease all over. he accidentally knocked that coffee mug over onto the valve covers and it literally melted the grease away and he wiped it with a rag and the side of the block too. her coffee you could stand a spoon up in when it was cold. try that lol.

Bro, I have a 38 year old econoline 250 with a half a million miles on it. At this point, I'm pretty sure the entire top end of that thing is completely caked, but it still fucking runs. I don't question it. I don't reason with it. I just follow the dates on the windshield. 🤷

I was surprised I opened up my wife’s engine and it was all full and I would’ve said no way this oil ever got changed, but I’ve been doing the maintenance on your truck for a long time and it’s been changed religiously twice a year

buddies dad has a 3.5 with a rattle under only the driver side valve cover on the inner side. seems like a chain slapping against the valve cover maybe what could have gone wrong?

If everyone changed oil then you would have no more engines to repair…

add 1/2 quart of atf, run for 5 min, drain, change filter and oil, run for 50mi equivelant, change oil, and filter again, you're good to go

My vote is for spray heavily with degreaser now. then rinse, then dawn dish soap at a high concentration with water and flood the motor with it. Turn it by hand very slowly. rinse and repeat. then check it.

I’ve been battling this one for years, the Dodge my wife drive says 7500 miles for oil changes. She then likes to let the computer tell her it’s time for an oil change 8500+ miles. I keep trying to tell her she should not be using the same oil that long and the mechanic keeps telling her that she needs to do it between 3000 and 4000.
