If the jury stays deadlocked, the judge can declare a mistrial. That does NOT mean Lindsay is found guilty or innocent. The Commonwealth could retry her with a new jury. BUT the defense can also pursue a Rule 25 motion arguing the evidence wasn’t legally sufficient to support a conviction. If the judge grants that, Lindsay would be found not guilty and the case would be over. So a hung jury doesn’t automatically mean she walks, but it also doesn’t automatically mean there will be another trial. A few different things can happen from there. The good news, the investigation doesn’t stop and Patrick could very well be investigated to clear up everything that makes zero sense. I’m not a liberal either so, don’t anyone come for me. 😬
