Fun Fact: Roadrunners court by chasing each other by racing/chasing the other. They will run for miles without stopping to prove themselves (be least likely to be caught by predators). Male coyotes also court females by chasing and “hunting” (think of pups playing: the chase activates their prey drive) them down once the male catches up to said female. They will do so for hours to prove themselves (be most likely to catch prey). If you saw these two as a pair flirting/courting rather than hating/fighting each other, then you would be justified from a biological standpoint.

Chuck Jones had described Wil E. Coyote as Sisyphus struggling to roll the boulder up a hill only to have it roll back again hence the plot point about "Project Sisyphus" in the movie. I think the movie made a really sweet notion of "What if the boulder considered Sisyphus a friend? What If the boulder cared for sisyphus and all this time sisyphus had never truly struggled alone?".

its the same cycle as Tom and Jerry. without the other things do not feel right. same with Bugs and Daffy. yes bugs is the mascot but the moment Daffy ran away bugs was desperate to get him back. they complete one another aftwr doing the same thing for years
