Seeing you for the first time. Good info- never heard about this position. I’m looking to transition out of executive assistant corporate work and thought about medical coding and what you are describing peaked my interest as a next step to that… I’ll definitely look into this further. Question, how much schooling or credentialing is required after experience as a coder for a newbie to this field?

I’m a CPC for a big hospital. I will review claims a note. I review notes all day. I am the one that down codes the majority of the time for my providers and try to provide education so I try to make sure that we don’t have that problem as part of my job but I do know about some providers that are code. I know about providers that use time base just to try to get through it and get a higher level but like I tell them if you don’t document what you’ve done to support that amount of time then you can’t get it or we have some some people that will bill for all an hour for with a patient. How do you see a patient in an hour and you got 20 patients on your schedule and you only work for four hours everything like that.
