Actually the dealer I used to work at in Ohio leaves their cars unlocked 24/7 so people can look and thieves can just open doors to look for stuff (which there’s nothing inside used cars) vs smashing windows in . It was actually a company policy lol

When I bought my first car from the dealership in my town, he would leave his cars unlocked all night, every night, but it was also 25 years ago. The town was small though, like 4k people I think. The town only had 2 red lights lol I would get off work and stop by and look at the vehicles. I ended up getting a 99 mercury cougar from him.

Texas has a similar Blue Law left regarding dealerships. Back in the early 2000nds I sold Hondas and a couple of us would go to the dealership on Sundays just to talk to the customers and give them our card. We would tell them to print out an Edmonds page on whichever car they wanted and we would sell it to them at that price. Most came back that Monday to buy the car.
