@casanimaladventures: You’re not just throwing a rock. You might be throwing someone’s entire home. 🪨👀 Flip over ONE rock in a river and look at how much life can be hiding underneath it. Aquatic macroinvertebrates live in the tiny spaces under and around these rocks, and seeing this much biodiversity in such a small area is a pretty incredible reminder that nature is alive in places we barely notice. So yes, throwing rocks is fun 😂 but maybe stick to the ones on shore. Rocks already sitting in the river can be habitat, shelter, feeding grounds, and protection for tiny animals that are incredibly important to the ecosystem. Sometimes respecting wildlife is as simple as leaving their home where you found it. 🪨🪱💧 🔬 DISCLAIMER: These rocks were carefully moved as part of a supervised scientific and educational activity with students studying aquatic macroinvertebrates. All organisms were handled with care, safely returned to their habitat, and the rocks were placed back where they were found. #Macroinvertebrates #AquaticMacroinvertebrates #FreshwaterEcology #StreamEcology #AquaticEcology
