@gmarch9: Save this before you buy another piece of furniture or decor 📌 As an interior designer, I mix high and low all the time. The key isn’t spending more everywhere, it’s knowing exactly where to spend and where to save. Splurge on anything you touch or feel every day. Think real solid wood over laminate, and ceramic or stone over plastic. These are the pieces that hold up over time and just feel better in daily use. Save on the things that are mostly visual, the pieces people look at but rarely touch. That’s where a lower cost option won’t compromise the overall look of the room. It’s not about the price tag on everything, it’s about being intentional with where your money actually goes. What’s one thing in your home you’d splurge on versus save on? majatytte :
I almost get judged by some family members and friends because they assume our house is extremely exspensively decorated and we thus have a lot of lonely or are frivolous. The fact is I’ve been intensely focused on interior design, thrifting and making beautiful objects and spaces since childhood. It’s been cheaply but carefully collected for 20 years.
