haunting adeline, ao3, gta 6 all of these issues feel so intertwined and I think it comes down to... the kids do not know how to differentiate fiction from reality. I truly believe that in a time of influencers and vloggers and YouTubers the parasocial relationships they have formed with online personas has bled into their understanding of fiction characters. they literally cannot separate fiction from reality and as far as characters go they think they are real imo.

I am not a fan of Haunting Adeline. And I know many many people who loved it. It doesn’t become “you shouldn’t have liked this” or “you are X person for liking this” but waaaaay more along the lines of “okay, but WHY did you like it?” As curiosity. I feel like I missed something, or that there’s something else afoot here, when I genuinely hated this book compared to so many others in the same genre. It’s about me, honestly haha!
