@your_favorite_contractor: This little tool is great if you're doing woodworking by yourself because it's like having an extra hand. You can simply nail it onto the trim and you can use it to hold your tape measure to get the measurements. You can also use it to Mark out your quarter inch or 1/2-in reveals on your trim. And then you can actually use it to clamp onto your trim so you can get the perfect measurement that you're looking for! What do you guys think of this? #HomeImprovement #DIY #construction #builder
I take two side pieces put them on the floor measure up market where my line is cut the 45 there then I fit the top. That’s the way I’ve been doing it and you don’t need that little plastic thing and nailing it so do the side pieces first try it you’ve got your nails marked to make the corner there you got the corners marked but the casing up where the mail with the line is trim to 45 and then fit the top works every time real quick and you don’t have to play with that little toy

I add 3/8 to the inside dimension. 3/16 reveal is money. Why do you need a F jig

Why the hell would you waste money buying that thing and then why waste time nailing it to the frame. Just cut the timber to a rough length then hold it up and mark both ends job done

another one I seen was to line up the miter with the saw slot, pivoted to 90, hook onto the slot and mark the other miter.

More little gadgets to solve a problem that doesn’t really exist. And then you have to keep track of that little gadget. You can just put your tape measure at the edge of the three-quarter inch door jam, and then subtract what you need to get the measurement.
