@bignisenergy8888: I wholeheartedly agree with this video because at some point we have to ask: what the fuck are we BUILDING? I’m talking specifically to Black folks. We can fill churches every Sunday, come back for Bible study Wednesday, raise money, pray together and know everybody in the congregation… but why aren’t we turning some of that connection into community power? Where are the businesses, banks, libraries, land, resources and systems we’re building and supporting TOGETHER? “Go pray about it” cannot be the answer to every damn thing. Prayer without preparation, organization and action ain’t building shit. Imagine what could happen if the same people sitting beside each other every week intentionally pooled knowledge, money, skills and resources to strengthen their own communities. I’ve said it before: the systems that historically oppressed us cannot be our only plan for saving us.
