In the book, they send 5 people, and the aliens tell her that the wormholes they used were created by a race even more powerful than them, who are long gone, but left "markers" of their existence hidden somewhere in pi. She eventually finds it and it's the coolest thing ever. Read the book, it's super dope!

The movie did end with her having evidence after all when they found that her camera inexplicably recorded 18 hours of static, (the amount of time of her entire journey), in just a fraction of a second.

I wasn’t impressed with it because of the ending. Nothing but typical, alien made sure she saw her father format and not them. I was expecting more the way the movie was heading. How original.

Spoiler. They built one machine. It was destroyed but no worries, we just happen to secretly build another trillion dollar machine on the other side of the world. meh!
