@drmaryclaire: If you start to feel “off” in your late 30s - 40s, there’s a very real chance it’s perimenopause. Perimenopause looks different for every woman, but understanding what’s happening hormonally and why symptoms show up is one of the most powerful tools you have to care for your body and your health. In The New Perimenopause, I walk through each stage clearly and clinically, from the hormonal shifts to the symptoms you may notice, and what actually helps, based on evidence, not trends. ✨Order The New Perimenopause at the link in bio. #perimenopause #perimenopauseawareness #brainfog #hormonehealth #womenshealth

53 and just had my first cycle after 159 days 😖. Joint pain is killer and sleep non-existent. Feels like this is never gonna end.

Can someone inform doctors about this ? So many have told me « no treatment needed until you’re in menopause », like those symptoms aren’t worth taking care of.

51 and the last 10 years have been … a lot. I have a notes app with a long list of documented symptoms over the years. After four different obgyns over the last two years, I’m going to a NP listed on the menopause society website next week and paying out of pocket. I hope she is more versed in treating someone like me who also has PCOS, high bp thanks to the PCOS and migraines (which I only developed in my late 30s - likely perimenopause).

It didn’t happen like this for me at all! Last summer I began experiencing my first symptoms at 51: mood changes, poor sleep, feeling overwhelmed, unable to focus, lack of energy. Started estradiol and progesterone and felt better almost immediately. Started testosterone this summer and I feel even better.

You missed one - when you were regular like clockwork with no perimenopausal symptoms but stage 3 breast cancer chemotherapy put you immediately in menopause.

My body didn’t read this - clearly! I started early peri or premature ovarian insufficiency around late 20’s. By 35 I was in full blown peri. I’m 10yrs in now and will kill anyone who takes my HRT. Hoping my periods will decide to stop soon because they are hell.

And this means a lot if you're already an active woman, but then start seeing changes in your body, even though your routine hasn't changed

Estrogen levels increased for me in perimenopause and I developed fibroids and endometriosis. Levels didn’t decrease until menopause.

seriously WTF?
Fun fact, I went to the ER in June and was told they have me post menopause.... I told him I had a hysterectomy 10 years ago... "oh we don't have that in your records but that's even better than post menopause....
