As a mom and RN of 20 years, my view is that she had access to caring, competent and quality providers who treated all the symptoms that were reported appropriately. The amount, dosing and timing of her prescribed medications were totally misrepresented by Reddington. They were all given properly. As an intelligent experienced RN, Lindsay would have known how to navigate the system and would have been comfortable advocating for herself as evidenced by her management of her medications, her ability to consult different providers and to decide not to take recommendations for one on one, group and outpatient therapy. It is also evidenced in her decisions to turn down an open bed at McLean and the multiple care options offered by Women and Children's when she was evaluated but didn't meet the criteria for their Postpartum program in December. On 12/31 she decided to admit herself voluntarily to inpatient at McLean and was stabilized on medication regimen, but chose to be discharged after 5 days. She spent all of January improving in her mood, spending time with family and friends and taking part in activities and outings, but she made the decision to plan the murder/suicide of herself and children. Her claim is a strange male voice commanded her to kill the kids after never having signs or symptoms of psychosis, no delusions or hallucinations. There are multiple examples of premeditation+ its clear shknew right from wrong. The fact that she is now paralyzed is unfortunate but should not guide the jurors decision to find her guilty. There is no one to blame except for Lindsay. She is NOT the victim, a child, nor is she the poster child for postpartum depression or psychosis or women's mental healthcare. Although motive is not required, in my opinion, control and keeping up the appearance of control was important to her. After the birth of her 3rd baby ,Callen, the mask began to slip with loss of control over her body, the children's behaviors, her time, relationship, career, etc. Anxiety and despair made her want to end her life and her inability to leave the children behind caused her to commit this devastating murder/suicide. Hung Jury or mistrial. I have no faith in this jury to come to a verdict anymore. Also One of the jurors were approached by a photographer after court today, so that is cause for a mistrial.
