I hate the “every bad guy is redeemable” Disney trope, but this is different. He didn’t redeem himself. He was truly a monster and in the very end he gave it all up for his son, which can also be seen as an act of selfishness in itself. He’s one of the most deeply flawed villains of all time. Truly amazing writing

No matter how you look at it. George Lucas is actually an amazing writer, the dialogue is just a short straw for him. But the bigger picture is absolutely fantastic and intertwined with so much art and mythology and story that it really grips you good once you understand
