Having a corporation is definitely very very very beneficial, but saying that your prop firm challenges are automatically non-deductible just because you don’t have a corporation is extremely misleading. Even as an individual/sole proprietor, prop firm challenge fees paid from a personal bank account can potentially be deductible if they are legitimate business expenses related to earning your trading income. A corporation is not a requirement for a business expense to be deductible.

You can write this as a sole proprietor and having corporations is a little more complicated. If you spend the money personally there no way to avoid personal tax.

Actually I incorporated a business and I was able to write off business related income from being a sole proprietor I think at most 1 year prior to the corp. It still counts as a deduction long as you incorporate soon after

As long as it’s being used for your business yeah. I just feel like there’s not much you can purchase for it to make much of a difference so imo it’s best to just stick to the 46% tax rate that’s if that’s the bracket you’re in.

Thanks for the tips! Though I guess you have to make at least 1 payout or even be profitable in order to incorporate? I couldn't imagine my evals being deductible if don't have any money coming in.
