@meghannmcuniff: A judge ruled today that probable cause supports the charges against Charlie Kirk's alleged killer. Tyler Robinson pleaded not guilty to seven counts after Judge Tony F. Graf Jr. said enough evidence exists for him to go to trial. The charges are aggravated murder, a first-degree felony; discharge of a firearm, a first-degree felony; two counts of obstruction of justice, second-degree felonies; two counts of tampering with a witness, third-degree felonies; and a misdemeanor count of violence committed in the presence of a child. The murder charge's primary aggravator is knowingly creating a great risk of death to others. The other aggravators are commission of a violent offense in the presence of a child and victim targeting / hate-motivated enhancement. Graf, who presides in Utah's 4th Judicial District in Provo heard testimony during a five-day hearing in early July. Attorneys submitted briefs over the last several weeks, then final argument today. Utah County prosecutors say Robinson, 23, fired a single shot from a Mauser 98 .30-06 caliber bolt-action rifle on the roof of the Losee building at Utah Valley University on Sept. 10, 2025. Kirk was speaking on stage when he was hit. Prosecutors say Robinson targeted Kirk because Kirk opposed homosexuality and transgenderism.
